What are Articles of Incorporation?

Articles of incorporation are formal documents filed with a government body to legally document the creation of a corporation. The contents of these documents may vary but generally include general information about the organization, such as the corporation’s name, business address, the number of authorized shares and the par value of the shares, and the names and addresses of the registered agent, the corporation’s incorporators, and the initial board of directors.
