In our previous entry, we talked about the events we participated in Europe. Now, we’ll give you an overview of the conferences we’ve attended in North America.
To start off, in January, Convene attended the Society for Corporate Governance’s first Essentials Seminar for 2019 held at the Westin Beach Resort, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The Society’s ESSENTIALS events are strategically designed to serve as both basic training for new corporate secretaries and as a refresher course for those with more experience. The three-day program featured sessions from seasoned corporate secretaries and governance professionals who have mastered the tools needed to manage the multi-faceted responsibilities of corporate governance.
Midway through the year, we sponsored the 2019 National Conference held at the Manchester Grand Hyatt, San Diego, California.
Committed to providing educational talks, resources, and relationship-building opportunities for institutions to better manage and improve their governance, this year’s National Conference had the theme Surfing the Governance Wave which featured 30 topics delivered by seasoned subject matter experts and service providers. Backed by years of experience, they shared insights, actionable takeaways, and latest solutions to pressing governance issues.
Organized by the Society for Corporate Governance, the conference is developed for corporate secretaries, general counsel, and other governance professionals at public and private companies of all sizes and is designed to maximize legal education opportunities and CLE credit.
In the following month, we went to the ElevateIT DFW Technology Summit at the Irving Convention Center. From Storage to Cyber Security, Infrastructure to Data Recovery, the folks from the Dallas area made sure that they were ahead of the digital transformation movement.
And just recently, Convene sponsored the Governance Professionals of Canada’s 21st Annual Corporate Governance Conference held at the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, Quebec City.
This annual event brings together participants from all across Canada and features two and a half days of expert panels, workshops, and breakout sessions on top of mind issues, the evolving corporate governance landscape in Canada and internationally, and best practices in the governance field.
With the theme Next Generation Governance: Resilience, Agility, and Innovation, the event ensured that governance professionals remain at the cutting edge by featuring inspiring topics and providing 350 governance professionals a unique opportunity to network with clients and colleagues to exchange ideas, discuss current challenges, and share best practices.
Finally, in October, we’ll be heading to the ElevateIT Houston Technology Summit. We can’t wait to find out what this event has in store for us. Stay tuned for our next entry in the #ConveneConquers series.
