Convene Strengthens Healthcare Governance at MHA Annual Meeting 2025
BRAINERD, Minnesota – Convene was proud to participate in the Minnesota Hospital Association’s 2025 Annual Meeting, held September 17–19 at Madden’s on Gull Lake, as part of its new role as an official Associate Member of MHA. This partnership reflects Convene’s commitment to supporting Minnesota’s hospitals with secure, intuitive board governance technology that helps leaders focus less on administrative hurdles and more on delivering care to communities across the state.
Carrying Convene’s mission forward at the MHA Annual Meeting were Lovely Peligrino (Global Marketing Manager) and Rene Lagemann (Account Executive), who joined hospital executives, board members, and healthcare teams in tackling Minnesota’s most urgent challenges. Hospitals across the state continue to face bed blockages and discharge delays costing nearly half a billion dollars annually, while rising labor expenses and negative operating margins strain already-limited budgets.
Understaffing has also contributed to higher rates of adverse patient events, raising serious concerns around safety and care quality. Adding to the pressure, non-profit hospitals carry the weight of uncompensated care and community health responsibilities. In the face of these realities, it is clear that Minnesota’s healthcare leaders need strong governance tools to guide strategy, ensure accountability, and build resilience for the future.
Advancing Minnesota’s Healthcare Governance with Smarter Board Leadership
Throughout the event, Convene showcased how its AI-powered board management platform enables hospital boards to meet this moment. By providing centralized access to meeting materials, secure communication channels, and audit-ready compliance features, Convene helps boards streamline oversight, improve transparency, and make faster, more informed decisions.
“Our inclusion in this program reflects MHA’s trust in Convene’s ability to deliver secure, reliable, and future-ready technology,” shared Lovely Peligrino.
In our conversations, several Minnesota hospital leaders shared the challenges of outdated or makeshift systems. Some are still mailing out paper packets prepared by executive assistants, while others rely on PDFs or intranet postings to circulate materials. A few use competing platforms but expressed interest in tools that could better support their boards’ efficiency and security. These insights reinforced the demand for governance technology that truly lightens the administrative load while elevating board collaboration.
Hospital leaders we spoke with were especially interested in how Convene could support quality and safety monitoring, strengthen financial oversight, and reduce the burden on already stretched administrative teams.
Rene Lagemann stated “By working together, we can help boards and executives spend less time on manual processes and more time on the mission that matters most: ensuring that the people of Minnesota have access to safe, high-quality care at the right time and in the right place.”
