Secure Governance for Community Banks | ICBA Live 2026
SAN DIEGO, CA – Convene was proud to be part of ICBA Live 2026, held March 6–9 in San Diego. Community bank leaders from across the US gathered to share ideas on how to keep up with new regulations, protect sensitive information, and make faster decisions, all while maintaining strong oversight at the board level. There is also growing interest in using technology to make board work easier and more efficient.
At Booth 959, the Convene team, John Miller and Raza Malik, spoke with attendees about improving board meeting management and reducing time spent on manual tasks. Many directors shared that preparing materials, keeping information secure, and keeping everyone informed can take a lot of time. These conversations showed a need for tools that simplify board work without adding extra steps.

“Community banks are being asked to do more with greater speed and precision. The conversations at ICBA Live showed a real interest in tools that give clear oversight and control at the board level,” said John Miller.

Outside the event, industry trends support what we heard on the floor. Many boards, especially those with older directors, want simpler platforms and are moving away from expensive incumbents to tools that work well on iPads and Windows devices, have lower total costs, and provide audit trails for regulators.
(SOC/ISO/CMMI), document-level permissions and watermarking, secure voting with roll-call or weighted options, and e-signatures with full vote and minutes records. Extra features like workflow automation, SSO integration, and decision reporting are appreciated but not required.
“There’s a shift happening where governance is becoming more proactive. Leaders want better visibility, stronger security, and systems that help them stay ahead—not just keep up,” Raza Malik added.

Convene board management meets these needs with a secure platform where directors and executives can access materials, hold meetings, and manage votes efficiently. By improving board meeting management, Convene helps boards spend time making decisions rather than on paperwork.
ICBA Live 2026 showed that good governance is essential for community banks. With the right tools, boards can work more efficiently, stay compliant, and guide their institutions with confidence.
